Art Universities/Colleges?

Hello, I am completely new to everything and I was wondering some stuff about art universities in general. I would like to know from the ones who have actually been there: Do they have lockers?Do you have to carry a big portfolio around at anytime at all or just plain backpacks are fine? I heard that even though it is an Art college, you must take academic courses such as English and Art History(if there are more, what are they?) and in those classes, do you have to make any presentations of any sort, in fact; do you have to make presentations at all, what are those classes like in general?

Lets say you have to read at loud, and you don't want to, do they make you like in high school?Do you have to work in groups in anything or can you work solely independent?I probably have tons more but I don't remember any more at the moment.Anyways I'm not able to go to things like their open houses or anything so if someone who actually goes to one answersthese, I would really appreciate it.

They do have lockers. You only have to carry a big portfolio if the class you have requires big paper/materials thats you'd put in it. I usually onlt see people with the big portfolios when a project is due and they're bringing it to class. You do have to take SOME general education classes, but its NOTHING like regular colleges. You still have to take math, english, speech, history, psychology, and sociology. Art is ALWAYS about presentations. The point in that is to inspire other classmates who don't share the same artistic eye as you have and for critique.

Teachers in college don't MAKE you do anything - especially stuff like read out loud but THEY WILL dock points off of your class particpation grade if you are totally disconnected from the class. All teachers use group assignments to help you learn. It doesn't matter what school you go to or what major you have but you work independently for the most part.
