Is it possible to model for nude art and be a Christian? One of my really good friends models for nude art. I'm not going to lie, she has a really nice body with the hour glass shape and is really fit and in good shape. I can see why she models for nude art, though one thing about her is that she's a Christian. I asked her if that goes against her religion to model for nude art and she says it doesn't. She tells me that art is a form of expression and that nude art is a beautiful form of art that has been around for many years. She has invited me to some of her art sessions and from what i noticed it seems as though she models for sensual nude art, with her posing with other female models in sensual artistic poses. Is it possible to model for nude art and still remain a faithful Christian?
Is it possible to model for nude art and be a Christian?
That just means that you love the body that god has given you. That doesn't mean that god will hate you for, since god will not hate you for anything for that matter.
Of course it's still possible to do nude art and still be christan.
Reply:Possible, yes, and even permissible, but probably not wise, or beneficial.
Reply:Who's perfect.
Reply:No there is no such thing! Have you ever seen Janice Dickson modeling show, there was a girl faced with a similar thing and she didn't model in the nude! I believe she got fired!
Reply:Why not, it's the body and the body is beautiful! Just be righteous whie doing it!
Reply:I seriously doubt it. Where's the modesty?
1 Timothy 2:9
Reply:Yes very much so,the only person that should see your body after you grow up from your parents is your spouse.
Reply:Well if you're a Christian than you believe that God created the human form. And if this God did do such a thing, wouldn't it be right to honor and celebrate God's creation?
Not a Christian but I can't see why there would be an issue.
Reply:Is it possible to be a Christian? Yes. Christianity isn't about being perfect. Should we keep sinning of purpose as Christians? No. We're supposed to do the best we can. Is it not a win to pose for nude art? I don't think so.
The book of Genesis clearly shows that once Adam and Eve gained knowledge of sin, they covered their nakedness and were ashamed of it.
So, I must honestly say that I think what you're friend is doing is not right. And doing sin when you realize it's wrong is a hiderance to faith.
Reply:Pride is a sin. Is she proud of her body? It sounds like she is, based on her willingness to show it off.
Reply:If you go to a session, I suspect you'll see this is really art, not porn.
But even if it was erotic (and I don't think it is), I think she can still be a Christian. I believe our attitude defines our relationship with God, not how well we execute. Maybe the more general question is, can a Christian sin and still be a Christian? That's a different question from *should* a Christian sin. If being perfect was required for being a Christian, I can't think of anyone who could qualify.
Reply:Original sin was based on nudity....hmmm
Reply:I don't see any problem. God created us naked and in his image. The sin is covering and hiding his image from view. Nudity should be compulsory
Go Natural
live naked
Reply:Yes of course it is. I'm a Christian, and as my family, including myself have been in local papers a few times, everybody at Church knows we are naturists. I've done a bit (not a lot) of nude modelling, strictly naturist or art, not sensuous or porn. So most of the congregation have seen nude pictures of me. It's fine not a problem.

Reply:Hello,
Yes, nudity in "fine art" has always been socially acceptable.
Just go look at the Sistine Chapel and many museums in Europe. The human body is the most beautiful thing in God's creation, many have surmised. Any art classes in the world eventually require you paint a nude model. LOL, even my dear old mom, a staunch religious woman had to in her classes in the 1930's.
Some of the more fundamentalists sects disagree but they just need a little more education in the arts department.
Poronography on the other hand is something entirely different.
Cheers,
Michael Kelly
Reply:I think she has not fully thought through the implications of what she is doing. She may not feel sin in her heart, but she may be causing other people to sin by revealing her body. Infact, I think it is inevitable that she will do so.
But Christianity is not a list of do's and don'ts - it's all about a relationship with God. I suggest that she pray to God and think about the effect her art will have on men. Especially married men.
Reply:I would say it is possible but will most likely cause corrupton.
The thing is, engaging in activities God does not approve of causes you to lose power with him, not neccessarily your salvation. Read Revelations chapters 2 and 3.
Reply:Well. The human body is an art form in itself, and nude art is a way of trying to remember that - sometimes. I would really say it depends. If she posed nude so people could learn how to draw the body, I would assume it's fine. If she posed nude for sexual "art" (As in porn) I would say no.
Reply:As with most religious concepts, it's a matter of opinion. There's plenty of nudity in the bible. For the most part, people are expected to be somewhat modest, but the only specific instructions about nudity have to do with incest or exposing a woman for loose behavior. It was not uncommon for people to see others unclothed, even up until Victorian times. Many cultures had public baths where women and men would bathe in separate groups.
There is a wonderful tradition of nudity in Western Art and in our culture it is normally viewed as acceptable. Being offended by nudity, sexuality or even profane use of religious symbolism in art is viewed as a sign of poor education in our culture. Ideally, we are supposed to be sophisticated enough to appreciate the artistic rather than the prurient value of nudity.
So, I think that one could be a nude model and still be a Christian, though she'd have to be of the more tolerant variety.
Reply:Please stop reading the bible. The only thing that has made nudity bad is all the cults of the world, which includes Christianity, and Islam.
Reply:No. You CANNOT be a Christian and model for nude art, because just to state 1 reason, you are causing other people to lust after you and that could never be from God.
Reply:You can't do that and be a true believer.
Reply:You shall not be ashamed of the form that God gave you.
Go pose nude. Make sure it is beautiful and for the right reasons though, else your God shall be angry. Make sure the artists are there for the art and beauty, not for the lust.
EDIT: Modest means no decorations. You cannot get more modest in the eyes of the Lord than your humble, exposed and vulnerable nudity.Come to think of it - This means we are sinning wearing the clothes most of us do now anyway. Wear a burlap sack to cover yourself.
Re: Original Sin:- So nudity caused the Fall of Man? I think not. God intended his servants to be nude. It is the Fall of Man that made God make his servants embarrassed about being Nude. Embarrassed about being vulnerable to God's wrath.
Are you embarrassed about being under Gods judgment, Christians?. I should hope not. You should embrace it. And embrace the form your God intended you to have.
EDIT: Ah, if by sensual you mean erotic, that is a big no no. No no, no no.
Reply:Go to her session and if you get a woody it's porn. If you get shrinkage it's art.
Reply:the bible talks about women being modest...and nude modeling isn't modest at all!
2timothy 2:9
9I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.!*
Reply:I think so. I don't think there's anything in the New Testament that prohibits modelling for nude art (someone will correct me if I'm wrong). It does say that the body is a temple, etc., and the Kingdom of God is within you. There are prohibitions on adultery, fornication, drunkenness, etc., etc. but if your friend just allows people to look at her body for the purposes of art, without any intentions of lewdness, etc., then I don't see how that would go against her Christian beliefs. St Paul says, "When we are clothed, we will not be found naked" but that's in the spiritual context, not the worldy one.
I may well be wrong on this one, but as I say, I'm sure someone will point it out if I am.
Reply:Art isn't pornography or sex, that's the distinction you have to make morally. Is it unchristian to look at this
http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/kinser/i...
(Michelangelo art).
If you think the answer is no, then posing for it is not Unchristian.
We were naked in Eden, we were nude at birth as well.
Reply:God wants women to dress modestly. Nude modeling, no matter how "good" the body looks, is not modest.
Reply:Only if you feel not exploited and it's not for the money.
Reply:What does Christianity have to do with nude modeling? God made your body - seems a more appropriate use for it than what a lot of people do.
Reply:The way I see it, if it inspires the big head, it's art.
If it inspires the little one, it's porn.
