1) find a work of art. (post link to image)
2) find a song that you think fits the art. (post link if you can)
3) explain why you paired them up.
(don't worry if you don't know much about art, i do know art, don't let that intimidate you, and it doesn't require you to have knowlegde of the art or artist, like mine does)
here is mine:
this 'untitled' painting is by 'jean-michel basquiat' http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i208/k...
basquiat was funded by andy warhol and died of a heroin overdose, so i think 'the velvet underground's' (who warhol also managed) and their song 'heroin' would fit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7BFuFUEgZ...
Work of art and a song to match, lets get artsy fartsy?
Fantastic question P. Wall, really got me thinking
Last Exit (warning-noisy free jazz)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPMfPVQlM...
Jackson Pollock
http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/pol...
Chaotic, exciting and somewhat antisocial.
Cocteau Twins (dreampop)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WybSSagVv...
John Everett Millais
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Milla...
I stole this idea from a poster on Youtube who paired stills of pre-Raphaelite paintings with some Twins music. I had to look all this info up, I know very little about paintings. Just went with the one that I thought fit the song...
Stooges (Shake Appeal)

Vampirella # 36 cover art by Sanjulian

This made for an excellent match when I was 13 or so. Probably seems tame by today's standards, but it was the next best thing to my buddy's tree fort with the Playboy wallpapering :)
One last one...

Reply:Thanks P. Wall. You should do another Q like this, it really was a fun one. Report It
Reply:"Vincent" by Don Mclean. It's about Van Gogh. PeAcE :)
Reply:This makes me think of Drunken Lullabies by Flogging Molly
http://www.nancarrow-webdesk.com/warehou...
I'm not sure what it's titled, but it's painted by Picasso
It reminds me of Drunken Lullabies because the song is loud and fast paced, and so is most of Picasso's work (in my opinion). Well, a painting can't be fast paced but it has that same feeling. Also, this particular painting has alot of clovers in it and the members of Flogging Molly take pride in Irish. Clovers are associated with Ireland.

Reply:I was out all day, but I was super excited to answer this question, as it's a neat concept.
You didn't specify which type of visual artworks you would accept, so I hope you will give me a bit of leeway on my first one:
http://www.loc.gov/preserv/bachbase/imag...
And its song:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=38JpAMG65...
(Kindly observe the mud and dirt--and yes, I know this song has been mentioned by me before this very evening--I apologize for that--the other question was influenced by my planned answer to this one.)
Another song:

And its companion image:
http://www.allposters.com/View_HighZoomR...
And yet another song (and one of my very favorites of all time):

With its companion image:

And the final one:

And its companion image, which is, again, a photograph:

(I have to explain a bit on the last one--the bass line is so prominent in "M", and it always reminds me of Sid, as he "played" bass--also, the line, "Take a step, move in time, but it's always back," always, always reminds me of the two of them--in the end the only thing they did right was the way they loved each other--everything else they tried just set them back further.)

A lost seafarer"
It fit for me. =]

I think the song "Legend Land" by Leaves' Eyes goes well with this painting because they both have an epic and beautiful feel to them... I really don't have a good answer I just think they go together well.
EDIT:
wow, great version! Way better than the one I found.

If You look at the painting and then listen to the song, the connection will be crystal clear.
Great Question P Wall.
Reply:P. Wall - FYI - I love Basquiat - thanks for giving him Props :)
btw -- Did you know, when you spell-check "Basquiat" - you get "Biscuit" - hmmmm... oh well...

Oswaldo Guayasamin's The Scream:
http://www.guayasamin.com/pages_ing/2_ob...
reminds me of King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man
EDIT:
Shizzle Bizzle!: I LOVE Banksy! For some odd reason, some of his street art reminds me of the Smiths, I have no idea why.

glad you like it, yours was awesome too!. Sigur Rós are from Iceland and the artwork is also from an art collaboration (kind of a side project of the lead singer) from Iceland called Riceboy Sleeps. They are so unique and beautiful-I love their sound. These are some of my favorite clips!

3. They're paired because they have the same name. :P But if you know why they called that song Guernica, I would love to know. :]
