Art :'(???

Do you think that art is a natural ability that you are born with

or you gain skill by practice?

Because I dont seem that artistically talented

but i am very artistically inclined

so you think if i really practiced that i could actually become a decent artist?

=]

Art :'(???
YES! With practice you will get a lot better! AAAAAAAAAAARGHHH It really annoys me when people say it's a gift.

I was absolutely crap at art. Even my teacher used to laugh and say "well at least your good at other stuff". It eventually annoyed me so much that I spent hours practicing in the holidays, hours on some schoolnights too. Eventually it gets a lot easier to produce good things.

Sorry for bragging, but I went from being laughed at to now getting A's and A*s + winning awards (and with awards comes with money :P).

Don't you dare give up!

Here's a bit of a motivational article from the one and only DeviantART website. %26lt;3 Deviant.

Read it :) It was very useful to me, and I'm sure it will be to you too.

Best wishes and good luck.
Reply:Look at modern art nowadays its all about your own style.

Gary Larson (creator of the far side comic strip) wasn't a good drawer but he has impacted the world tremendously with his art.
Reply:It depends...maybe a bit of both; my brother has mad drawing skills, it is something he seems naturally inclined to, and yet he's also made the effort to continually cultivate those skills.

Try to have fun with it. Experiment with different media. Find inspiration. Research other artists. And don't worry about whether or not what you are creating will be good or bad.
Reply:My personal advice to you is to do your research on a program called Apophysis. It's free, and it creates AMAZING images. All the images are mathematically generated, and laid out pixel by pixel.

I would read up on a few tutorials. Try deviantart.com while searching their engine for apophysis tutorial.

Another program is Tierazon. It's fractal, but with a different algorithm.

For anyone who has a question about this, no, not all images are generated, in fact, most are created using techniques. :]
Reply:in some cases yeah but i was great at drawing certain things like cartoons and silly figures but i got fed up of doing them so i started tracing pictures of cars because i had lots of ideas for cars in my mind but not the ability to draw them, when i started i could draw the basic shape but nowhere near what i can draw now, i can sketch a full car of my own design off the top of my head now thanks to learning from tracing so i think the answer is skills get better with practice

hope this helps
Reply:Absolutely, and do not doubt yourself in any way, or compare yourself to other artists. You are your own artist, so please don't spare us another moment and shine you talent onto us!!
Reply:Art consists of talent and then equal amount of hard work. I have a personal opinion, that art consists as well from artists and appreciators. For an appreciator is very helpful to try painting etc, he can understand much better what is it about. That's it.
Reply:it's what ever you want it to be...as long as it is your own work of course.
Reply:I'm the same and iv'e been taking art at school for 8 years. After studying Andy Warhol i realised art wasn't about being good at drawing; it's about having ideas, bringing them to life and creating them in your own style. I've come to realise that not every assessment i do in college will suit my style of artwork but that's what art's all about; breaking the boundaries and using expression. As long as you feel that the artwork explains how you feel and you like it, that's all that matters; other people will see your work in a different light and may not comprehend it as you intended.
