Art director career questions?

I am in high school and was thinking about the career I would like to pursue. When I thought about it, I came up with being an Art director. My question is what is it like being an Art director? Hows the pay? What is an Art directors everyday life like? How is the job opportunity and security? Is it difficult to find a job straight out of college or is it fairly easy? Please answer all these questions and feel free to add info about this proffession that you think I might want or need to know. Thank you for your time and have a wonderful day!

Art director career questions?
If u like art stuff, u would love to be an art director. u would be very busy and it's fun. If u move to big cities such as New York, Dubai, London, u would get really good opportunities about art stuff. If u are an american citizen and move to Dubai, u are gonna earn about $20000 a month. In New York, u are gonna earn $15000 a month. In VA, u are gonna earn $6000 a month. I don't know about anyother cities.

Good luck

Reply:If you're good it pays a lot.

A friend of mine was an art director and he designed Marineland of the Pacific many years ago. Probably not today, someone else did that.

Art directors work for architects, movie studios, commercial producers, ad agencies.

It's a good job.
Reply:It's a challengeing and interesting job, but you would probably get a degree in design and start work as a designer, then work your way up to art director.

You have time to research this so here are some references that would help you. Go to www.aiga.org which is the American professional organization for design. They have articles and information and design careers and design education.

Maybe get a subscription to HOW magazine. It covers a wide range of design issues but it is accessible for a beginner to understand and enjoy.

A good book that provides clear explanations of career options is Becoming a Graphic Designer: A Guide to Careers in Design. The author is Steven Heller.

Hope this helps. When you start thinking about what schools to consider, get back on the site and you'll get ideas about that too.
