Art museum exhibitions?

Hello. I have to do a paper in art class. I am a bit confused of what an museum EXHIBITION is in a museum. My professor previously assigned papers dealing with one art work, but now he is changing it to on a museum exhibition. What exactly is an museum or an art exhibition? Any examples? I reside in brooklyn, NY. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

Art museum exhibitions?
I suggest a trip to the Met for you. They currently have "Special Exhibitions" on Jasper Johns, Gustave Courbet and others (see link below). These exhibits are usually a collection of artwork by a single artist, a group of artists in one style or around a central theme (i.e. The Art of Brooklyn, Commercial Art in the 20th Century, etc.)

Major retrospectives of the work of very famous artists are also considered exhibitions, and often the show will travel around the world, being staged at numerous museums in the largest of cities for months at a time. Often the museums will charge a separate fee from the normal entrance price to view major exhibitions, and one may have to sign up for a time to start the tour.

You can probably find plenty of examples on the internet by searching on "art exhibitions".
Reply:For instance, the British Museum in London has a temporary exhibition on the old Chinese Warriors (you can look it up on their website). The Tate Britain Gallery has a temporary exhibition of the Camden Town Group. An exhibition could be of items from their collection, grouped in a theme, or they could borrow from other galleries or museums. Some museums are lucky enough to have a special space for shows, which means they don't have to disrupt the normal collections.
