Art? What's there to research about it?

Question: What's there to research about art other than it's history?

To be specific, I'm speaking of japanese art, anime.

I feel I know almost everything about it. Are there any other fun or cute art forms that I could research? What's there to research about anime or any type of art?

Hi! Here is a link to an art encyclopedia site that will keep you busy for quite some time. All of the various art movements are listed, along with the artists popular in that movement, their biographies, and many paintings. Enjoy!

Reply:Check out these blog entries that talk about fine art and sculpture.
Reply:I think I just died a little inside.

If you feel you know everything about something, you probably don't know much of anything.

Lets start with the basics. Gesture, Life drawing, Anatomy, Perspective, Line quality, Clothing design, Understanding folds, and how different materials look and react to different situations, Proportion, Color theory. silhouetting

How do you situate a character on a ground plane, how do you rotate that character and keep it looking exactly the same. How can you make characters unique, How do different proportions effect the type of character.

Anyways start with that then get back to us.
