Should I take art or graphics for GCSE ?

I love art, at our school our art gcse work has a reputation for including tons of work, and im terrible at doing stuff on time, im behind on the art hw by a few weeks now, and this isnt even gcse! Also, there is an art teacher who I hate so much, he made art my worst subject last year, when this year its the best.. if I had him as my gcse teacher, I know I would fail.

I dont actually love graphics, but it seems like it would consist of alot of designing, which I'd like. Apparantly its not too much work, which is good for me. But im worried that I'd regret not taking art, and th teacher for graphics is RUBBISH.

Also, my like 6 best friends are taking art and only 1 graphics.. should that effect my decision? What should I takeee?

I will be taking Geography, Spanish, and Business Studies also- business being my main subject I want to focus on.

Should I take art or graphics for GCSE ?
I really do understand how hard it is for you to pick between two subjects you want to do. I picked my subjects two years ago (I'm doing my GCSEs this year ahhh) and I know it's stressing. You've picked good selection of subjects there. Graphics goes better with Geography and Buisness Studies than Art does and will help you hugely. It's a shame about the graphics teacher but you get that at all schools. I go to a school with a really bad rep. and half the teachers can't teach or control a class. It can effect you grade but it also depends on the amount of effort you put into it. For example the teaching for history has been bad for me but I've still come out with As and A*s.

It's also a shame about you experience this year in Art. Picking the subject could be a risk if you son't get on with this teacher and you end up getting him. I wouldn't worry to much about handing in everything on the time the teacher gives you. I gave in a piece of coursework in a month late to my teacher and near enough got full marks. So as long as you hand in all coursework before the real deadline you'll be fine.

As with your friends, it's always great with being with friends in a subject (and I would recommend you have at least one friend in your class) but it can be bad as well. If your easilyy distracted when being with friends then maybe it's best not to be with so many.

At the end of the day you need to pick the subject that you enjoy and will find more beneficial to you but whatever you pick I hope you enjoy and I hope this is helpful to you.
Reply:Art is a great subject to do if you love it. It could possibly help you with graphics work. But if design is what you want to go into then go for it, i'm sure you can make a descision eventualy.

Good Luck!
Reply:If you would like to be a graphic designer e.g. CD cases, posters etc. then yes take graphics. If you want to be an artist or an art degree is going to influence your profession take art. But in my opinion I would recommend art as you would be doing something you love. And also it would be a bonus that you have 6 friends with you as GCSEs are a hard tough proccess.

Good Luck! Remember to enjoy your studies!
